I am one of those people who needs a large degree of fulfillment in their life. Yep, what a weirdo. Believe me, I wish I could be content with wake up, work, eat whatever, TV, Facebook, couple beers, sleep….repeat five times and hope the weekend has a little fun in store before I have to do it again.

I am in that middle area where all I think about is what I am supposed to be doing. What is my propose? What is my passion? But, most of the time I am just end up frustrated. I think your purpose and your passions fluctuate. I don’t believe there is just one thing and once you find it then all the stars will align and you will find that ever-elusive thing called happiness.

I make up for that by doing a whole bunch of things. This seems to work for me. A lot of people say you should find one thing and totally focus on that to be successful. Not me. Today I love cooking. Tomorrow I may want to draw all day. Next week I want to make a movie. Then cook again. Writing a short novel sounds fun. Inspire kids about real food. That feels good. Podcasting. Running. Producing a TV show. Right now I have a passion for throwing around a 35 lb kettlebell. I can’t get enough of it. This makes for a lifestyle of no weekends, no hump day and no T.G.I.F….it only leaves today.

I also have days where I could hate any or all of the above activities. Life is weird.

One thing I notice, though, is that if I look at that list I riffed off of my passions they all have one thing in common. Becoming a better person. So, I guess that is my one thing.

Becoming a better person.

Right now I am trying to figure out a way to segue this post into what I wanted to write about today. I have this issue with marketing which is just a way of saying that I have a problem with getting my work out there. Not because I don’t believe in it (well, maybe there is a touch of that in there) but, because no matter how long I work and toil and love a project I am working on, when it is done it feels done. Meaning, it is done, I am happy with it (never totally), but, it feels good, and now it is time to move on to the next thing.

The thing is, when you create something of value, that moment when you finish it is just the beginning. Now it is time to get it out there. Now the work begins. What is the point of creating something great if you don’t get it out there to have it’s effect on the world? I have already become a better person by creating this and now if I can help someone else be a better person then we are in the bonus round. I think that is my one thing.

Become a better person by creating things that help others become better people.

I feel great about my latest projects. Now, it is time to work on the second half of my thing.

The 1-week Real Food Challenge is my answer to what I saw most parents were struggling with. The desire to cook more was there but the tools on the what and when were not. I took that problem and turned it into this project which includes 9 videos, a pdf cookbook and the shopping lists to live a week of real food. The challenge part is just a way to get people motivated. I believe if you really stretch yourself for one week then it will not seem so hard in the future to bring real food and cooking into your life.

I was able to pour my passion for cooking, film making, producing, editing, teaching, inspiring, and doing meaningful work into this one project. I am a better person because of it. Now, my only hope is that it can help others become better people.

Take The 1-week Real Food Challenge right here.

If you like it then let’s get together and spread the word around. It is up to us to create change in this world.

Let’s become better people.

Much love,

Chef Greg
